... Canada's innovation and entrepreneur community!

Last night was DemoCamp15 in Toronto and it continues to be a great meetup for startup geeks. Ever more popular, the rumor was that somewhere near 250 people showed up.
Even with the A/V problems there were some good presentations. I arrived late and missed the first two demos but noteable demos included Cool Canadian StartUp ConceptShare showing off some new features and also their official mascot 'Beta' and also Ogrant.com's social media student scholarship platform.
There were also some rewarding ignite presentations, two on funding. Rick Segal let the crowd know what it takes to approach and pitch a VC, and John MacRitchie told us to look to the OCE for funding (if you're a science-laden, long-term, commercializing university research play :)). Then there was LittleGeeks.org...
Little Geeks - "Give a Computer. Reboot a child's life."
Andy Walker gave an inspiring presentation about living a fulfilling life by doing rewarding work, and it cam across genuine and heartfelt. Andy is a well respected technology journalist and entrepreneur who embarked on an agenda of making his professional life a rewarding experience and change the world for the better.
Andy challenged the audience to look at what they are doing, how it changes the world, and what impact it will leave on the world after we are all long gone. Check out Little Geeks to see how Andy is leaving his mark....and hopefully get inspired to leave yours.
